IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Fluoride Feed System Discontinued

The City of Grayling City Council voted to discontinue fluoridation on May 12, 2025. The fluoridation equipment was taken offline on May 23, 2025.
The safety of the drinking water will not be impacted by shutting off the fluoridation system. No change in the taste, smell, or color of the drinking water is expected. The suspension of fluoridation does not impact the city’s ability to meet the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Report concerns or issues to the contact below.
Community Water Fluoridation was estimated to have been initially voted in by the City Council in the early to mid 1970’s, as a public health measure to prevent and reduce tooth decay. Community Water Fluoridation is considered one of the top 10 Public Health measures by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With the removal of Community Water Fluoridation, it is recommended to consult with your dentist and continue regular preventive dental visits. If you are concerned, continue to brush with fluoridated toothpaste and use a fluoridated mouth rinse. Your dentist can provide additional recommendations for the prevention of tooth decay.
